- Beach, headland and lakeside ceremonies are exposed, often more than they appear on a calm site visit. Arbours, tall arrangements, fabric and anything with a large surface area need weighting and structural allowance specified for the conditions. This is the most common failure at coastal weddings and it is entirely predictable.
- Sand and soft ground
- Structures need a base that works on the actual surface. What stands safely on a lawn will not necessarily stand on sand, and a lightweight frame in soft ground is a hazard rather than a design.
- Sunset drives the timeline
- Waterfront ceremonies are usually timed against the light, and the run sheet is built backwards from it. There is no negotiating with sunset, so everything before it has to be scheduled realistically.
- Salt air
- It affects fabric, some metals and the longevity of arrangements more than people expect over the course of a day. It is a consideration in what gets specified rather than a reason to avoid the setting.
- Style light outdoors
- The water and the landscape are the reason you are there. A clean ceremony structure and a considered aisle, then let the setting do the rest. Heavy styling on a beach reads as clutter.
Travelling From Sydney
The easiest of the regional areas to service.
The Central Coast is around an hour and a half from Sydney, which makes it the most straightforward of the regional areas. Same day travel is usually workable for most installs, so accommodation is less often required than for the Hunter Valley or Newcastle. Where an early morning install does require staying the night before, it is itemised in the quote.
The shorter distance also makes a site visit genuinely practical, which matters more for coastal weddings than almost anywhere else. Wind exposure, ground conditions and the actual orientation of a ceremony site relative to the afternoon sun are all things that are far better understood standing on the site than from photographs.
